Scars, Blemishes and Moles

At Skin Biology, we have had many customers report very good results on either eliminating or markedly reducing the appearance of many types of skin blemishes, scars, flat warts after using the combination of copper-peptide skin repair creams or serums with salicylic acid serums and/or retinol. This is a very simple, safe, and painless method that often works surprisingly well, and is much less expensive than laser treatments, chemical peels or silicone sheets and less irritating than retinoic acid alone.

Dermatologists often recommend deep chemical peels for scars, but if the dermatologist or esthetician is not highly skilled, this is often unsatisfactory and can produce further scarring. We get many telephone calls from people who have had deep chemical peels for scars and ended up with worse scarring than their initial scars or laser treatments that left permanent skin damage.

To use this method to reduce skin lesions, rub LacSal Cream or LacSal Serum (which contain 10% hydroxy acid) or Exfol Cream or Exfol Serum (containing 2% hydroxy acid) into the scar in the morning, then use either Super CP Serum, Super Cop Cream, or TriReduction Cream in the evening. After a week, you may notice a slight flaking of skin around the periphery of the lesion. This is usually followed by a shrinking and thinning of the skin lesion which is significant after one month.

2. You can apply more hydroxy acids during the day if you do not experience any irritation. But reduce the amount if your skin become irritated.

3. In the evening, use either Super CP Serum, Super Cop Cream, or TriReduction Cream on the scar.

5. You can use the copper peptide products also in the morning but because of the blue color, most people prefer evening use.

Moles can be slowly reduced and often removed with mild hydroxy acids and copper peptides However, faster results are obtained with stronger products.

Some skin clinics apply 70% glycolic acid to moles with a cotton tipped swab for 6 minutes. This must be done by a skin care expert. The acid is then washed off. A copper peptide product such as CP Serum is applied immediately and for a week afterward at bedtime. Many moles drop off in 2 to 3 days.

Caution: Any skin lesion that is infected, looks very abnormal or appears to be dark and has irregular borders should be promptly checked by a physician.

Stronger beta hydroxy acids will speed the procedure but also increase the chances of irritation or chemical burns. Skin Biology's LacSal Cream and LacSal Serum is a 10% hydroxy acid (8.5% lactic - 1.5% salicylic) formulated at pH 3.2. Some customers and clinics use stronger salicylic acids or 30% to 70% hydroxy acids to loosen the scar tissue then apply the copper peptide product.

Most of the following customers used our weaker creams for scar reduction. The new Super Cop Creams, Super CP Serum, and LacSal 10% Exfoliator are even more effective. Some comments have been edited for length and clarity.

I have been religiously using the Exfol Cream in the A.M. and the TriReduction in the P.M. since I received my order not too many days ago. And I have been rubbing it into my small circular, semi-raised dark colored mole, on the left part of my cheek/lower-jaw line under my earlobe, and the surrounding areas.

I have had very little, if any, irritation.The raised dark colored part, which had a texture to it, has 97% fallen off, and now the mole is like a reddish/pink/brown circle (very very slightly raised now) so it's come off big time! Now I am going to continue to use the creams until the surface is completely flat as can be with 'normal' skin underneath.

I have had this mole all my life, I'm 27 now.. but basically it was annoying to try and keep my facial hair trimmed with that in the way. So when it's flat, I'll finally be able to use a razor again instead of electric hair clippers (I usually wear a stubble beard). Basically I'll be able to shave again all the way and have no concerns for cutting the mole. It's saved me money too, because I was going to go to a surgeon and have him remove it, probably with a laser. I am sensitive to pain, so I didn't want to go that route..

[I'm] happy that you offer the alternative CLEAN method. It feels more natural too... I'll send a photo soon when it's more closer to 'normal' looking skin. Thanks so much! It's much, much more flat now, almost all the way, but there's the coloration there still.. I think it'll go away soon.

I currently use your Exfol Serum and TriReduction products for scar reduction and love them very much. I was interested in adding your P&R Day Cover to my regime for daily sun protection and was wondering about whether or not it has the same strong blue color as your CP Serum and TriReduction Cream. Since I am a male and don't wear make-up, I can't really afford to paint my face blue during the day...

Skin Biology - P&R Day Cover is a much lighter blue color and should cause no problems. The titanium dioxide on the P&R Day Cover also lightens the cream.

I can't thank you enough!!! About a month ago, I commenced using CP Serum on an acne scar and car-accident ravaged face (raised and depressed scars) - and, just recently added Super CP Serum to my regimen. I have to tell you that I already see a difference in my scars and am getting real excited with my results so far. I am extremely impressed. .....I get a lot of people who are unsure that this product could work, but I am definite proof along with my sister, who used it on scars on her back, her back looks awesome now, and she is rebuilding her confidence.

The TriReduction has done wonders for my aging, spotted, webbed with fine lines, nasty-looking hands and in reducing some flat warts elsewhere on my body - and the serum with an AHA/Hydroquinone cream has my face looking fresher, clearer, and more even in tone. Two brown, dry spots on my forehead that I've had for years that are at least 1/4" in diameter are actually fading, fine lines are less pronounced, and my skin is somehow "thicker" and finer looking in texture. I can live with the deeper crow's feet and laugh lines - I've earned them - but it's nice to have a reduction in the web of crinkles that goes with them! The moisture balance between my slightly oily nose and slightly dry cheeks is much better, too.

My friend, L...... A......., has been using your BioHeal and P&R #3 with great success. She has Sjorgen's and the BioHeal and P&R #3 have been remarkably effective in eliminating her lesions.

I am of light brown complexion, but my facial skin has large dark brown patches the result of many, many years of sun bathing. Linda suggested I try your TriReduction Cream. I was of course very skeptical, but said I'd give it a try. She ordered some for me and I have been using it most of this year. Even using it only once a day or every other day the dark brown patches have lightened noticeably. Just think if I used it daily, morning and evening!

I have been using BioHeal for approximately 6 weeks to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. While BioHeal has improved my skin quality, I wanted you to know of a completely unexpected result. About 9 years ago I had a growth removed from my face. It returned within a year and I decided I would just live with it. It was about 1/4" thick and growing. While the doctor who originally removed it assured me this was a benign growth, it still bothered me.

After using BioHeal for 6 weeks, I am happy to report that I no longer have a growth on my face. I have no other explanation for the growth disappearance since I have used nothing on my face other than BioHeal. Incidentally, it has also removed those bothersome little age growths on my hands. I just wish I could bathe in it.

I want to order more BioHeal. About a year ago I had a troublesome mole or sun damage spot on my neck under my chin. It was tender and sore but never went away. I was planning to have cosmetic surgery to remove it, then received some BioHeal for general skin care.

For an experiment, I tried putting the BioHeal on the mole for three weeks and the mole completely vanished in that time. It has now been a year since and the mole has not returned.

I still love my version #3 P&R and have experienced notable healing of blemishes and wounds using it twice a day on damaged areas. The redness disappears much more quickly than previously without the P&R. I do have a couple of quick comments and then a couple of questions.

First, I am so pleased you are now offering 4 ounce containers of P&R! I appreciate the opportunity to reduce costs and shipping.

Now the questions. Another user (posting on Makeup Alley) shared an article about research on retinol that suggested that it could provide some protective benefits if used prior to sun exposure. Just in case, I have switched my P&R use to mornings rather than nights. Unfortunately, I really liked the luminous glow I got from evening use better - I'm wondering if the glow is less noticeable because I am covering the P&R with sunscreen and foundation right after applying it. Is there any lessening of effectiveness using it in the morning with extra products? Also, the same poster indicated that she is using it twice a day, which you don't seem to recommend on the site. Do you have any experience with people using P&R twice a day? What are the ramifications? I certainly don't want to damage my skin by overloading it in my over eagerness.

Response: You can use P&R as much as you wish, morning or evening or both. P&R has a high UV absorbency due to the peptides, squalane and allantoin in the cream. While these cream ingredients are not FDA-approved UV blockers, they are probably safer than many FDA recommended sunscreens. Many sunscreens used in the USA have now been banned in Europe. Despite the dark appearance of the CP Serum, I find it very mild, comfortable and very, very effective! (It'll be an ideal texture for the coming Texas heat.) The BioHeal is now a permanent part of my medicine cabinet for healing all kinds of wounds. The TriReduction has done an unbelievable job of smoothing the scars left on my husband's back after several moles were removed. And now, my grandmother swears by TriReduction too after it helped smooth out a very large gash like scar on her shin. She now has only a thin silvery thread where she used to have a raised purple-red stripe!

Hi! I just ordered some more products - I am TOTALLY in love with your CP Serum and Tri-Reduction Combo. They have done wonders for my skin and I can't live without them.

I had a keloid on my forehead from a chemical peel - a raised, white scar that really bothered me. After a couple of months with Trireduction Basic and the hydroxy acid, I cannot find the scar.

After spending $3,000 on various types of scar treatments, I ended up looking like a burn victim. Then I tried TriReduction with an exfoliator. The scar reduction was slow and took about 6 to 8 months but gave very good results. Also there was no down time such as happens after the derms procedures.

I have used BioHeal and Retin A in the past to reduce old scars and have gotten good results.

The Trireduction is seriously reducing a 10 year old scar on my shoulder. It has been flattening and smoothing.

BioHeal is healing up calluses on my foot. Nothing else ever worked.

Before, calluses would split open and become sores. Now, all of then are healed and the calluses are all getting smaller.

I writing about my daughter's result with BioHeal. As you recall, she badly burned her hand and the physicians thought she would need skin grafting.

After the burn had scabbed over, I decided to try BioHeal to see if this would help avoid scarring and the need for skin grafting. After applying a light coating of BioHeal every night, the damaged skin started healing within a few days. After six weeks, there is no evidence of scarring. There was a discoloration of the skin but this is going away with time.

I have always enjoyed your Mailbag section, and have been grateful to pick up patient tips to make living with Sjogren's a little easier. I would appreciate your consideration of the following for your newsletter:

I have Sjorgren's Syndrome and Lupus causing severe problems with very dry skin. I am prone to "cracks" in my fingers due to Raynaud's, and "burns" in other areas of my skin, including my face. I have used many expensive products trying to help the situation, with minimal results.

The "burns" would only respond to steroid ointments, which caused scarring. I recently discovered a product that has greatly helped the dryness and accompanying skin problems. I have never written about a product before, but the improvement has been so significant I want to share with other patients who may have the same problem. In the past two weeks, I have received numerous compliments on my skin - and not just from people who know me. For a forty-eight year old woman with illnesses that negatively impact the skin, this is worth writing about.

Also, the cracks and sores on my fingers (from Raynaud's) heal very quickly with BioHeal.

First, let me say that i've enjoyed using your BioHeal product for about 2 weeks now. I had 2 surface burn scars on my right forearm, each about 1.5 inches long, and about 1/2 inch wide, oval in shape & dark brown in color, that have both faded away to nothingness. The first scar was removed in about 3 days, and the second is now almost gone. Both scars were over 2 years in age. Thanks for such a wonderful product.

The P&R and hydroxy acid cream have really helped on my acne scars. They are smaller and much less noticeable. I tried everything before and only irritated my skin.

I have had good results with BioHeal for scar removal. About a year ago, I had a hot wax peel that caused damage in the area above my eyelid. The wax caused a scar and an indentation in the skin surface. I applied BioHeal every day to the scar area for six months and today the scar and indentation are totally gone. I consider this a success.

I tried your BioHeal cream on a small burn on my hand. The results were phenomenal. It healed very rapidly and there is no scarring.

The Bioheal completely stopped any scarring after my extensive hand surgery. The hand looks totally normal with no scar lines.

Wow!!!! I just received mine yesterday, and put it on last night. First my face flushed bright red, and I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to use it. But I realized that it wasn't an allergic reaction -- no itching, etc. So I just waited it out, and the redness went down within 1/2 an hour (the reaction *could* have been from the Biore facial cleansing cloth that I used).

First, this stuff feels and smells really nice. A small amount spreads on very smoothly. I put makeup on over it, and went to the coffeehouse for a couple of hours. When I got home -- wow! Some of the little angry spots on my face had already practically disappeared. Amazing. And a large blemish had flattened out, and gotten much less red. I cleaned off my makeup (used a different cleanser this time), and reapplied the P&R. No red flush this time; just a little tingling, which stopped immediately.

When I woke up this morning, I seriously thought my eyes were not focusing properly. My skin looks that much better. I can hardly wait to see what the effects will be after using it regularly for a few weeks! You have a real winning product on your hands here. I find that I want to buy about 10 tubes so I won't run out!!! It's that good.

Skin Biology response: People seem to get a faster skin response to the "new" version of P&R. This is why it may be best to start the P&R slowly - a small amount every other day - until your skin barrier is in better shape. We had a similar problem with our Folligen scalp product until we told the people to start slowly, then increase usage.

Before I order more products, I wanted to tell you about my results with my burn scar on my hand. After two months of Bioheal use, the scar is gone and my skin looks perfectly normal and healthy. Now I'm going to work on some sun damage spots.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know how much I like your product. I didn't think my skin could look much smoother, since it was already in good condition. But, in less than a week, it did smooth out a rough trouble spot I've had for ages. And my skin looks really nice.

Just a short note concerning the Skin Biology Inc. ointment called "Protect & Restore,".

Just lately I incurred a sore on my upper lip that resisted treatment, so I applied a small amount of the ointment to my lip and noted that it stung for about 1/2 hour.
